Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What version of SharePoint does SPViews 2013 work with?

The SPViews 2013 software works with Windows SharePoint Foundations 2013 and 2010, Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, SharePoint Server 2013, 2010 and 2007.

  2. What do people use SPViews® for?

SPViews has many uses. It is often used for integration of Data Warehouses with the SharePoint systems. Creating programs with Visual Studio for every data load is not always desired and SPViews will perform far better. It is also used for reporting within tools like Reporting Services. SPViews can also be used to streamline development of SharePoint applications. While SharePoint integration with Visual Studio is great and needed for data updates, SQL queries are easier to write against views than working with CAML.

  3. Do I have to run SPViews every time I want to see current data?

SPViews creates views into your database. These views always display current data. You only need to run SPViews again if the list or libraries structures you are reporting on change.

  4. How often do I need to run SPViews?

You should run SPViews after any change to your list or library structure.

  5. Can SPViews delete data from my SharePoint content database?

No. SPViews only generates a script for creating views into the SharePoint content database.
